Pres. Muhammadu Buhari hosted young political appointees to a dinner at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Tweets from @MBuhari.

I spent the evening at dinner with a group of young supporters of our administration and our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). All of them united by their love for Nigeria and their desire and determination to see the country thrive and prosper, today and in the future.

I thank everyone who came tonight. I will never take your support for granted. Together we will build a Nigeria we can all be proud of; a land that our children and grandchildren will be proud to call their own. The journey has started, and we will work together to complete it.

I believe that if we fix infrastructure- roads, rail, power - a lot of Nigerians will mind their own business and be energized to pursue their dreams. I don’t know why previous administrations since 1999 did not use their foresight to focus on infrastructure and get it right.

Our intention in this administration is simple and clear: we will fix Nigeria’s infrastructure; we will improve the lives and living conditions of the poor, through our emphasis on agriculture and social investment. We will invest in the people of Nigeria.

For a long time, Nigeria’s wealth was used to benefit only a greedy minority. Years of high oil revenues failed to translate into improvements in infrastructure or quality of living. Our administration was elected to break free from that past; we will be steadfast in this mission.

BREAKING: Sen. Shehu Sani dumps APC, as Gov. El Rufai's Son, Bello mocks him

Following controversies that trailed the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna and, his constant back and forth with the governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Senator Shehu Sani (Kaduna Central) has resigned the party, The Cable reports.

And the Governor of Kaduna's Son, Bello El Rufai mocks him on the series of tweets he tweeted through his Twitter handle, while he also changes his Twitter display picture to that of Sen. Shehu Sani.

Bello El Rufai's Tweet.

I expected all those that kept encouraging Senator @ShehuSani to stand by him now. Some have locked their accounts, others are unlocking in a matter that’s worse than how President Buhari ignored former Governor Fayose’s theatrics. Defeat is an orphan. Come out guys. It’s okay!

You start a war guided by your ego cause you dislike the leader of your party in the state. Among others, a $100 million dollar investment was brought to Chikun, an LGA under your consitituency and you disregarded it. You go against the interest of your state and insult PMB.

You flirt with the opposition to be portrayed as woke. You publicly criticize the President because you claim to be an ardent democrat. Then you lobby everyone in Abuja to get an automatic ticket despite claiming to be popular and on ground. Why then do you want Abuja to decide?

President Buhari not against the use of card reader for 2019 Election - Garba Shehu

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu through his twitter handle released series of tweets as regards the stand of President Buhari on the use of card reader for the forthcoming election and why refused to sign the bill into law.

Shehu's tweets.

The Presidency rejects allegations of opposition politicians, as well as some newspaper editorial opinions creating the impression that President Muhammadu Buhari is against e-voting, the use of card readers in the upcoming elections, hence his decision to decline assent, for the third time, to the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2018.
We wish to state in clear and unambiguous terms that the issue of e-voting and use of card readers was NEVER an issue for the President’s decision to decline assent to the Bill.

It is equally important that this issue was not raised either by the Executive or the Legislature in the recent reviews.
Moreover, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) adoption of e-voting reforms is enshrined in the 2015 Amendment Act to the Electoral Reform Act. Card reader is therefore a settled matter.
The President’s recent decision to decline assent to the Bill has no effect whatsoever on INEC’s use of card readers.
Regrettably, purveyors of ‘fake news’ have been quick to churn out sensational headlines such as that of a leading newspaper, which screamed: “Card Reader in Jeopardy, Buhari Rejects Electoral Act Amendment Bill Again.”

Unfortunately, most of the critics of the President, including the editorial of a national daily this morning read out parts of the letters, as made available by the SSA to the President on National Assembly Matters, detailing the issues that were of concern to the government.

An issue has been raised by the President concerning some ill-prepared and flawed parts of the bill for which corrections needed to be made to allow for his signature.

The President wanted engagement with the parliament for the corrections to be effected so that, at the end of the day, both arms of government will be happy with the fact that we have a good electoral law in place.

As for his alleged rejection of the card reader, nothing can be farther from the truth. The President is the country’s number one fan of the card reader.

For a candidate who ran three times and “lost” in an electoral environment in which votes were allocated and losers asked to go to court if they felt unhappy, the President knows fully well the role that the card reader played in his emergence in 2015.
He has said times without number that he would strengthen and widen its application in the country and this, he is determined to do.

Accordingly, we would like to appeal, especially to the media to disregard baseless allegations against the President, even as he puts in his best efforts in working with the National Assembly to give the nation a good electoral law, and in time.
The card reader is not in danger of being discarded. It is a sine qua non for credible elections.

We appeal to the National Assembly @nassnigeria to reconvene as soon as possible to consider and approve the necessary corrections to the amended electoral act.
