Happy Independence day to all true who is a perfect example of who we are as a Nation, not what Pres. Buhari painted us to be, dutiful civil servants, industrious fuel attendants, young fellas across the country trying their hands on legitimate doings, petty traders and those doing the country proud both in sport and entertainment.

And to our oppressors, enemies of the Nation, past and present looters, election riggers, economy saboteurs, sponsors of chaos and violence, I say to them all with the hard labour and sacrifices of our heroes past to which they vowed that its not going be in vain and which they've betrayed and dumped into pit, May they never know peace.
Our government should against it practice of finding and trading blames on the current state of our country, the reality is that there are hunger and abject poverty in the Land, Unemployment is at an all-time high, Leah Sharibu is still with Boko Haram, The government should buckle up and own-up to responsibilities.
NLC and Minimum wage, I believe raising the minimum wage from 18,000 to 56,000 is not sustainable and obviously not the solution to our plural sufferings of the Civil Servants and Nigerians at large, our government should get creative and make life meaningful, less stressful and reduce our poverty level as a Nation.
Happy Independence.

'Buharism' and it's threat to national integrity. By Bashiru Hameed Akande
Background
Muhammadu Buhari was a popular man in 2015. Goodluck Jonathan's perceived ineptitude coupled with Nigerians' dissatisfaction and disillusion with almost every facet of his governance propelled Muhammadu Buhari, then a71-year-old former military dictator who has contested three times before, into the limelight as the 'messiah'. His alleged tough stance on corruption -widely regarded to be endemic and the bane to national development - won him the hearts of many patriotic and zealous Nigerians who, for once in their lifetime, want to experience a sane, working Nigeria where government would actually be responsible to Nigerians and be responsive to their needs and yearnings, rule of law would be respected, discipline among government officials would be at premium, corrupt public officials would not be spared, and an all-inclusive government would be constituted in such a multicultural and multi-religious country like ours.
The early signs
Buhari's victory was such a relief that one might be forgiven for proposing the day of his famous victory as a national holiday. Not since the days of Murtala Muhammad had any Nigerian leader was able to garner as much support and wide acceptability (bar some southern states). Many people even trekked many miles to celebrate his victory. Buhari would've asked for heads after his victory and some of us would've given it to him with our blessings!.
ThCCrackss
However, the euphoria that followed his victory didn't last long as it was clear from the onset that indecision would be the Achilles' heel' of his administration. This effectively gave him the nickname of "Baba go slow". In fact, it took him about 6 months to form his government (about 12.5% of his supposed 4 years in office!). His early appointments also raised some eyebrows as they were considered lopsided, and excessively dominated by people of Northern and Islamic background.
For a man who has not been able to defend himself fully from allegations of ethnic jingoism and religious bigotry from some quarters, this made e mockery of his widely applauded inaugural assertion of " for nobody and for everybody". The notion that he prioritized competency is laughable as it can be argued and proved beyond reasonable doubt that competent and trustworthy people exist in all parts of the country. Some of his early fans, including myself, had to defend him with the hope that that the trend would change. Unfortunately, it didn't.
Soon after, Nigeria was also plunged into a5n economic recession. Inflation rates were at all times high. Companies were downsizing, jobs were being lost, the irony of the "change" mantra laid bare before ordinary Nigerians. The country's currency was at all-time weak. Things were very hard for nearly everyone (except if you're Yusuf Buhari who can still afford and N56M power bike!). To be fair to Buhari, the economic downturn was not entirely his fault. Years of reckless spending, irrational fiscal policies, and imprudent debt management under previous administrations during the oil boom resulted in a recession as the 'writings were definitely on the wall' before his emergence. Coincidentally, oil prices also dropped significantly immediately he was sworn in. In fact, it was to his credit that he and his economic team successfully led the country of recession.
The President's "persistent ear infection" as it was described by the presidency (only God knows what that is) also became a source of concern for many necessitating the need for a debate as to his fitness to govern the country. As a matter of fact, he has been away for medical vacation for more than 170 days since May 29th, 2015 when he was sworn in.
The administration of the "converted democrat" as one APC campaign pamphlet described him in 2014 also failed to comply with many court orders and rulings. Notably, the failure to release Sambo Dasuki, erstwhile National Security adviser who has been accused of massive corrupt practices to the tune of billions of Naira. The excessive use of force on Shia members by security agents which can best be described modern-day genocide as contained in the resolution of the "Geneva Convention" and which should've perhaps attracted ICC, Hague. The subsequent incarceration of their spiritual leader and failure to obey court's order for his immediate release is reminiscent of the old military rule.
For a man who famously rode to victory based on his tough anti-corruption stance, his fight against corruption has been hugely disappointing. It has been accused -with evidence - that the fight is actually targeted against opposition members and disgruntled APC members. Even though a huge amount of money has been recovered through the Federal Government's cloudy Whistleblowing policy", many Nigerians considered it insufficient from a man who has promised to "unleash hell" on looters prior to his emergence.
Overall assessment
For all of his inadequacies, it's important to remember that Buhari should be considered a step higher than Jonathan's administration and if given the opportunity to choose again between them, fully aware of what's happening now, I would still have chosen him -though grudgingly. He has been able to move the country forward, though slower than one would have wanted. He has, obviously, made many mistakes and his government has been characterized by many administrative gaffes. And this is the part many of his burgeoning, overzealous, sycophantic, obsequious and bootlicking fans wouldn't want to agree. They think "Baba" is untouchable!
Buharism and fervor of Buharists.
Buharism can be thought of as a form of political, philosophical and ideological principles marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense, uncritical devotion to the political, economic and other ideas, decisions and governance of Muhammadu Buhari. It can be liked to Hitlerism. A dangerous precedence which could undermine devotion and patriotism to Nigeria. It's a 'disease' ravaging through the country. It's highly infectious and could take away one's rationality if care is not taken. And the class of people this has infected is quite staggering. From the literates to unlettered, from students to teachers; it cuts across various religious and ethnic groups. They have vowed to always support every of his decision -regardless of how illogical they may seem.
Perhaps, how can one explain the rationality behind a group of people who hailed Buhari when Bukola Saraki was being prosecuted and still hailed him when FG dropped the case or when a minister in his cabinet caught in a certificate forgery scandal refused to resign only for her to resign two months later or when the son of a supposed prudent president crashedana N56M power bike or whenever a corrupt opposition member is being forgiven after joining APC. They are numerous and I've tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to understand their reasoning behind hailing every move of his. More staggeringly is the fact that some of them who live under $1.5 dollar a day are ready to donate to a president who can literally afford anything he wants!. They hailed him when he said Nigerian youths are lazy and also hailed him when he said they are not!
Buharism has a great implication for national patriotism as it raises people who are patriotic to certain individuals rather than the country. It raises 'sheeps' who would not critically evaluate every option available to them.
Conclusion
I like Buhari as well (some might argue against this) but I criticize him when I feel he has been wrong and I praise him for actions that are worthy of praise. For our country's sake, Buharism must die and must be replaced with critical thinking.
A "wailer", as they would say.

WHY WE SHOULD BE OPEN MINDED ENOUGH TO REPLACE PMB COME 2019 -BY SEMIU ALOYINLAPA
If you don't have the time to read the post, don't just read the headline and jump to comment pls, you might have missed points that would have rendered your comment unnecessary. Thanks.
INTRODUCTION.
After making a humorous prayer for hardened supporters of Mr. President yesterday, the responses I got were quite shocking and I felt, in the interest of many unaware youths and that of innocent Nigeria, it's expedient I find time to write this article.
Let it be on records, that during 2015 general elections, I lead quite a number of campaign groups for PMB, many of us saw PMB as a perfect answer to the yearnings of an average Nigerian, we had so much confidence in his antecedent and we supported him to make a CHANGE we've all dreamt.
The evidence is also here on Facebook when myself and many other supporters of Mr. President stood firmly by him after 100days in office, the article I wrote is still here on facebook for records.
Why do I start with this introduction? So that many who felt they love PMB more than we do will know that we loved him more, we only love Nigeria much more...
IF I WANT TO BE SELFISH.
If I ever want to be selfish, I will never say anything about this Government because sincerely, I'm not affected, as a hardworking young man, I don't wait for any government, I take absolute responsibility for my life. As a matter of fact, I've increased in material possessions with the expansion of our company branches even when the said recession was at its peak.
But I don't want to be selfish because I feel the pains of an average man, I see people losing their jobs, I see hardship in people trying to provide shelter for their families because of the increase in prices of commodities, I see insecurity and restlessness in less privileged communities, and as a leader in my little way, I know what's expected of a good leader.
To those saying Buhari till they die, can you mention personal achievements you've had under his administration? Will you say same if your relatives had been affected by the herdsmen's attack? Can you say same if you've lost your job? That's rhetoric though.
To those who have said Amen to the prayer that I made, when I said you should say Amen if you want God to handle your life the way the PMB has handled Nigeria, this is practically what you've said Amen to, the more reason I said I rebook the amen for all of us, I know it's in our different perspectives.
1. DELAY:
Delay has typified this Government from the first year in office.
Appointment of Ministers was delayed, and eventually, some of them were square pegs in a round hole because, even as at the time of their screening, they had no idea what portfolio they will be operating, the worst black market appointment in history. Quite funny you go for an interview you have no idea the job description! What a drama!
This alone contributes immensely to the fundamental failure of this administration.
I'm sure we are all aware of-budget paddling and delay in budget presentation too...
2. FAILED PROMISES :
One of the things I hate to hear is that the mess created by the past administration is much, this is quite the worst justification for failure.
This mess had been identified before assumption of office, so, reiterating/over-flogging it is great evidence of cluelessness. The elders would say, a problem identified is half solved. But in this case, it's half multiplied ni o, as that's what we get to hear every time... Shifting blames!!
They promised $1=#1 and today, we are still paying hugely for dollars more than ever.
They promised an expansion of power supply
They promised a reduction In fuel price, but today, we are buying fuel at almost double the price they get it.. #85 to #143/5.
3. SECURITY:
I watched an interview with Mr. President before the 2015 general elections, he was asked about BokoHaram and he said what's BokoHaram, that the government allowed them to grow wings.
But today, we don't just have BH, Fulani herdsmen have joined, they've killed more people in this Government than ever, they've brought more attacks on people and communities than ever.
4. CORRUPTION :
Yes, this was one of the strongest reasons many of us voted PMB, he's undoubtedly a man of integrity, we knew our greatest problem in this country is corruption, and once it's wiped off, we will be able to move forward.
But when Mr. President started too, we realized it was selective and political, the most evident one being the removal of Obanikoro name for the big shot list of corruption after he joined APC, despite the indisputable evidence...
Check Transparency Internal report about Nigeria too, Nigeria dropped from 136th in 2016 to 148th position in 2017, out of 180 countries. The best and least corrupt takes the first position. So, how has a fight against corruption been effective?
5. ECONOMIC HARDSHIP :
Many lost their jobs, I've got friends who were victims and still struggling to balance up till today, we are paying more for foodstuffs and accommodation now than ever before, without accompanying salary increment to alleviate the suffering.
MY CONCLUSION :
1. This post understands the fact that we are all adults and have freedom of choice of candidate, I can't tell you who to vote, I can only tell you to check your conscience deeply to see if PMB should be advised to continue against all odds.
2. I acknowledge the fact that PMB has his achievements in his ways too, but the achievements are insignificant compared to the magnitude of these few points enlisted.
Sadly, the bitter truth is, we may vote PMB again if there's no better alternative, but most importantly, I want this post to achieve one thing...
And that's OPEN MINDEDNESS.
Let's have an open mind to receive a reasonable alternative, closing our mind and being rigid about PMB as if he's the only living options is not too good for us.u.
Till today, I still love Mr. President as a father, but the truth is, Baba is physically and intellectually unfit for the challenges on the ground in this country... This is the digital age, no longer analog. Our fathers would say, it's the dog of nowadays that could catch the rabbit of nowadays. If you think I didn't put it right, na you sabi o.
God bless Nigeria
God bless You and me.

The Nigerian Educational system is fast deteriorating with the country's Universities not helping the situation with their archaic, stagnation or barely updated course contents hence making it difficult for it products to be productive in the labour market or even to adapt or fits into the new jobs created as a result of technology disruptive influence.
Before delving deeper into the theme of this article, I will like to share my personal experience with you, I when I was in the University I had various opportunities to learn so many things one of which was graphic design at cost of "thank you" or "a Coke and Doughnut", but guess what I missed that opportunity, I was preoccupied with academics and students' unionism..
Don't be like me, because it hurt to remember that I had the opportunity to learn an in-demand skills for free and I did not took advantage, just last week a dab hand at graphics design was telling his training fee starts from N70, 000, perhaps if I had taken that advantage I wouldn't have to pay N70, 000 to learn it now.
SKILL SET YOU CAN ACQUIRE ON CAMPUS.
Depending on your passion, vision and plans of what to do beyond the University you can choose a skill set that's complimentary to your course of study.
1. Marketing and communications: This is one of the most important skill sets required to succeed in the business world especially for Entrepreneurs and those planning to seek for job opportunities after University, 50% of jobs opportunities in my industry is Business Development/Marketing and that applies to the Banking industry and some other industries as well, so I'll advise you that while on campus attend free and paid Marketing training both off and online, it pays.
2. Social media marketing/advertising: Take advantage of this too, you easily run a consulting firm if you're a dab hand at this.

3. Graphic designs: This is one of the trainings that are consistently organized in University environment, if you have passion for it, create time and learn, it pays.
4. Cake Making
5. Tailoring
6. Shoe Making
7. Website design
8. Event Decoration
The list is almost endless, look around your campus and fine something you have passion for and that will be useful for you and learn, it pays, learn it.
WHY YOU SHOULD ACQUIRE THIS SKILLS SETS WHILE YOU ARE IN UNIVERSITY?
The best time to acquire these skills set is now that you are still a student because no matter how tight your schedule is you can still squeeze out time or even stay in school while your University is break as this is the time these trainings are mostly organized.
Aside the home truth that you can easily create time for it, training fee in University environment for students are usually very cheap making it affordable for you and if you have friends that are dab hands at a particular skills you can learn from them while on campus, don't be like me, seize the opportunity.
