Nigeria Army admits attack by Boko Haram 5 days after.

PRESS RELEASE ON THE ATTACK ON 157 TASK FORCE BATTALION DEFENSIVE LOCATION AT METELE IN GUZAMALA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF BORNO STATE

1. The attention of the NA has been drawn to several social media, print, electronic and online publications about the recent attack on 157 Task Force Battalion at Metele. Whilst it is true that there was an attack on the location on 18 November 2018, it has however, become necessary to correct several misinformation being circulated with regards to this unfortunate event.

2. It is important for the public to note that the NA has laid down procedures for reporting incidents that involve its personnel who fall casualty in action. Out of respect for the families of our gallant troops, the NOKs are first notified before any form of public information so as to avoid exacerbating the grief family members would bear, were they to discover such from unofficial sources.

3. Furthermore, it suffices to observe that several social media, print and online publications have been brandishing false casualty figures as well as circulating various footages of old and inaccurate BHT propaganda videos and alluding same to be the attack on 157 Task Force Battalion. Whilst it is understandable how such misinformation can spread in this era of social media frenzy, the spurious circulation of some of these videos only contribute to further propagate the propaganda intent of the terrorists; to misinform the populace and portray themselves as what they are not. So far, the situation is that the location is under control as reinforcing units have been able to repel the terrorists and stabilize the situation.

4. The NA sincerely, wishes to thank the various arms of government, MDAs and sister security agencies that have stood with her in these trying times; by commiserating with the families of the fallen heroes who have paid the supreme price for the defence of our dearly beloved country. The necessary support being given the NA by the Federal Government and the goodwill of the Nigerian populace will undoubtedly continue to spur the NA towards the ultimate defeat of the highly degraded BHTs.

5. This is for your information please. You are kindly requested to disseminate same through your various media channels. Thank you.

7 Simple Guide to Land Your Dream Job as a Graduate.

Getting your dream job immediately after tertiary education be it University, Polytechnic or College of Education is one of the best things that could happen to a person, however it does not guarantee a successful career but it might be a pointer to it, and because of the deteriorating level of education in Nigeria and its resultant effect on the employability of her tertiary institution product, but despite the odds there are still job opportunities for graduates that possess the required skill sets, but are these graduates taking these jobs?

I doubt if the answer in your mind is a capital YES in totality, to ease their stress and turn their mountain of challenges into plain I was ordained by the Lord of the pen to write this insightful article highlighting "10 Simple Guide to Land Your Dream Job as a Graduate".

1. APPLY FOR INTERNSHIP: This is one of the easiest way to land your dream job, do a cursory research on places you would love to work and apply for internship, if you would be paid cool and if they tell you they can't accommodate you because of any reason is known to them, tell them you do a 3 months internship without pay, trust me you're not losing anything you're even gaining, gaining work experience, meeting people, improving yourself.

And it is never too late and you may be able to get a short-term internship to boost your employability.

If the company finds you resourceful enough for them they might retain you or someone there likes your attitude to work, he or she can recommend you for another job.

"You’d get jobs faster via recommendations than submitting an excellent CV." - Dr. Dipo Awojide.

2. EXPLORE: Venture into larger job sites, and search for the categories of jobs you would like to do, write and submit your resume to these companies. It’s a myth that sites like Jobberman, LinkedIn, working or Workforce isn't really getting briefs to recruit for firms, they do get, In fact, one of my friends got his pre-nysc job through this channel and some other graduates are getting.

3. NETWORK: Find time to build a network. Forget the odds. Reach out on social media, job sites, among friends, family, friend’s family, counselors, teachers. Whenever you encounter someone interesting, ask them for their advice and email. Most of us love imparting our hard-earned wisdom on up-and-comers, and are happy to make introductions to employers or recruiters. It makes us look good, too.

4. SHOWCASE YOUR SKILLS: Employers know you probably lack specific job skill set. You should use your resume and profiles to showcase the skills you do have.

5. HARNESS THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Social platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter can be used to find jobs, there are thousands of job vacancies posted on these social platforms. "For example, show your interests in a career path by joining in the discussion on Twitter or LinkedIn. This will make prospective employers, recruiters familiar with your name or even earn you a recommendation from a known person in your industry.

6. SHOWCASE YOUR WORK PORTFOLIOS

Ever produced a piece of work at a university you were exceptionally proud of? Dissertations, project, assignment, reports, portfolios (and more) all, this is an added advantage, optimize it by showcasing your expertise because of these reputable pieces are evidence that highlight your immense talents. You own them, so why not show them off?

To really maximize their potential, bring them to your interviews and intimate your interviewer about it, upload them on the web for free online publishing - and even get your supervisor to give you a recommendation.

7. JOIN PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND CLUBS

Organizations and clubs are usually gatherings of resourceful individuals depending on the type you join you can meet your employer or meet someone who would recommend youforthe jobb of your dreams.

Some organizations and clubs organize recruitment fair, you’ll find some really awesome groups full of like-minded people that will help move you along your chosen career path.

WHY WE SHOULD BE OPEN MINDED ENOUGH TO REPLACE PMB COME 2019 -BY SEMIU ALOYINLAPA

If you don't have the time to read the post, don't just read the headline and jump to comment pls, you might have missed points that would have rendered your comment unnecessary. Thanks.

INTRODUCTION.

After making a humorous prayer for hardened supporters of Mr. President yesterday, the responses I got were quite shocking and I felt, in the interest of many unaware youths and that of innocent Nigeria, it's expedient I find time to write this article.

Let it be on records, that during 2015 general elections, I lead quite a number of campaign groups for PMB, many of us saw PMB as a perfect answer to the yearnings of an average Nigerian, we had so much confidence in his antecedent and we supported him to make a CHANGE we've all dreamt.

The evidence is also here on Facebook when myself and many other supporters of Mr. President stood firmly by him after 100days in office, the article I wrote is still here on facebook for records.

Why do I start with this introduction? So that many who felt they love PMB more than we do will know that we loved him more, we only love Nigeria much more...

IF I WANT TO BE SELFISH.

If I ever want to be selfish, I will never say anything about this Government because sincerely, I'm not affected, as a hardworking young man, I don't wait for any government, I take absolute responsibility for my life. As a matter of fact, I've increased in material possessions with the expansion of our company branches even when the said recession was at its peak.

But I don't want to be selfish because I feel the pains of an average man, I see people losing their jobs, I see hardship in people trying to provide shelter for their families because of the increase in prices of commodities, I see insecurity and restlessness in less privileged communities, and as a leader in my little way, I know what's expected of a good leader.

To those saying Buhari till they die, can you mention personal achievements you've had under his administration? Will you say same if your relatives had been affected by the herdsmen's attack? Can you say same if you've lost your job? That's rhetoric though.

To those who have said Amen to the prayer that I made, when I said you should say Amen if you want God to handle your life the way the PMB has handled Nigeria, this is practically what you've said Amen to, the more reason I said I rebook the amen for all of us, I know it's in our different perspectives.

1. DELAY:

Delay has typified this Government from the first year in office.

Appointment of Ministers was delayed, and eventually, some of them were square pegs in a round hole because, even as at the time of their screening, they had no idea what portfolio they will be operating, the worst black market appointment in history. Quite funny you go for an interview you have no idea the job description! What a drama!

This alone contributes immensely to the fundamental failure of this administration.

I'm sure we are all aware of-budget paddling and delay in budget presentation too...

2. FAILED PROMISES :

One of the things I hate to hear is that the mess created by the past administration is much, this is quite the worst justification for failure.

This mess had been identified before assumption of office, so, reiterating/over-flogging it is great evidence of cluelessness. The elders would say, a problem identified is half solved. But in this case, it's half multiplied ni o, as that's what we get to hear every time... Shifting blames!!

They promised $1=#1 and today, we are still paying hugely for dollars more than ever.

They promised an expansion of power supply

They promised a reduction In fuel price, but today, we are buying fuel at almost double the price they get it.. #85 to #143/5.

3. SECURITY:

I watched an interview with Mr. President before the 2015 general elections, he was asked about BokoHaram and he said what's BokoHaram, that the government allowed them to grow wings.

But today, we don't just have BH, Fulani herdsmen have joined, they've killed more people in this Government than ever, they've brought more attacks on people and communities than ever.

4. CORRUPTION :

Yes, this was one of the strongest reasons many of us voted PMB, he's undoubtedly a man of integrity, we knew our greatest problem in this country is corruption, and once it's wiped off, we will be able to move forward.

But when Mr. President started too, we realized it was selective and political, the most evident one being the removal of Obanikoro name for the big shot list of corruption after he joined APC, despite the indisputable evidence...

Check Transparency Internal report about Nigeria too, Nigeria dropped from 136th in 2016 to 148th position in 2017, out of 180 countries. The best and least corrupt takes the first position. So, how has a fight against corruption been effective?

5. ECONOMIC HARDSHIP :

Many lost their jobs, I've got friends who were victims and still struggling to balance up till today, we are paying more for foodstuffs and accommodation now than ever before, without accompanying salary increment to alleviate the suffering.

MY CONCLUSION :

1. This post understands the fact that we are all adults and have freedom of choice of candidate, I can't tell you who to vote, I can only tell you to check your conscience deeply to see if PMB should be advised to continue against all odds.

2. I acknowledge the fact that PMB has his achievements in his ways too, but the achievements are insignificant compared to the magnitude of these few points enlisted.

Sadly, the bitter truth is, we may vote PMB again if there's no better alternative, but most importantly, I want this post to achieve one thing...

And that's OPEN MINDEDNESS.

Let's have an open mind to receive a reasonable alternative, closing our mind and being rigid about PMB as if he's the only living options is not too good for us.u.

Till today, I still love Mr. President as a father, but the truth is, Baba is physically and intellectually unfit for the challenges on the ground in this country... This is the digital age, no longer analog. Our fathers would say, it's the dog of nowadays that could catch the rabbit of nowadays. If you think I didn't put it right, na you sabi o.

God bless Nigeria

God bless You and me.

Nigeria deserves to be better by James Useghan.

The underlying expectation from any investment is to generate substantial and complementary results. One begins to wonder despite the enormous investment and endowment in Nigeria as a nation, the country has remained not to be productive nor thrive to complement the magnanimity of nature.

Nigeria is unequivocally a nation with the favorable eyes of nature. Providence has smiled on us and we are undoubtedly on the fortunate hierarchy of natural endowment, with a deposit of many mineral resources that cannot be found anywhere in the world. The nation can lucidly be tagged as the bank of natural resources, a land flowing with milk and honey, yet, there is little or nothing to show for it.

It is unimaginable that the nation has stayed so long in the rank of been an underdeveloped nation, as some people will like to put it, the only country in the third world. Nigeria, despite been blessed, lacks leadership and managerial prowess to transform her resources into meaningful results. She remains a nation without fundamental social amenities, even at the breakneck speed of technological evolution and civilization.

The current state of the nation brings so much ache to a discerning heart. Conversely to the giant progression of the rest world, Nigeria is in retrogression with the significant propensity of imminent collapse. There is evidential leadership vacuum that has eaten deep and invariably cut across almost every stratum of the nation's domain, is it private or public sector.

No one would have captured the deficiency in the leadership echelon in this country better than one of the British coloniser of Nigeria and a former Governor-General in Nigeria, Frederick John Luggard in his book "The Dual Mandate in British Tropical Africa", where he asserts " He (Nigerian) lacks the power of organization, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business. He loves the display of power, but fails torealizee its responsibility...".

We have a nation where education - the platform that is supposed to hone and build human capacity with the intention of positioning, consolidating and reinforcing the people to bear responsibility is treated with outright disdain. Gradually, our educational system is tilting towards total annihilation with underfunding, lack of basic educational facilities, and lack of incentive that will encourage scholars in their academic pursuit.

The government has ignobly shied away from equipping future generation(s)by givingg them standard and undiluted education, which will invariably serve as an effective tool to change the nation for good and the entire world. With the palpable deliberate enactment of policies enshrined in the current political dispensation that is discouraging education in various capacities, one can painfully admit, Nigeria is a tinderbox earnestly waiting for a time to explode.

Currently, the nation is dotted with crops of unsophisticated people at the helm of affairs. We have a country where mediocrity will unanimously win excellent in the court of public opinion. People seek certification rather than competency. Sound academic, professional and experiential qualification has been substituted and sacrificed on the altar of shenanigans, knaver, and pursuit of dishonest gains.

Recently, the country was announced by Global Statistics as the most impoverished nation of the world. The fact is evidential and palpable in almost every household of the federation, even though our government denies this truth with manipulated and concocted figures that have no effect on the lives of the average Nigerian.

It is sardonic that those who work diligently and tirelessly at their sphere of endeavorss and public service domain will be compelled to go home with little or nothing or at best half salary at the end of the month. People are suffering, aching with the unimaginable fact that a hand that is working isn't getting enough to feed himself nor his immediate family, skyrocketed inflation and cost of living won't cease taking it toll either

On the other terrible side of the coins lies myriad of others - graduate and artisans alike, who despite their potentials and proficient skillscannott find employment. They are simply disadvantaged by the virtue of their country of birth. These set of people are celebrated inanother climee as they invest their physical, mental and intellectual strength to develop their nation in diverse capacities.

Contrarily, these bright brainshaves been technically downplayed, debased and subverted to a mere tool in the hands of political gladiators to achieve and perpetuate their mischievous venture.

Leveraging on the high-level of unemployment and impoverished masses, politicians had subtly weaved a soft-landing space to manipulate the helpless masses, especially the youths, by employing them for sinister purposes such as thuggery, ballot snatching, propaganda and consequently make them an easy prey for vote buying.

Another general election is fast approaching and it seems Nigeria is still where it used to be or better said, she's further deteriorating rapidly. Politicians have already closed their ranks to rape and rob the helpless and hapless masses as usual. The truth is, the divided interest of the masses havepreponderatede their will to drive in a transformation mechanism.

The politicians are daily sowing seed of discord, most especially, amidst the youth, to weaken their collective strength, so as to pavethe suant way for their selfish ambitions. Yet, the youths won't cease to amaze me by swallowing their stratagem hook and sinker. So unfortunate! A nation that sacrifices merit, capability, competence, integrit, and dignity for mediocrity, shabbines, and sleaziness will eat the fruit thereof.

Nigeria deserves to be one of the best. We deserve a round peg in the round hole. We deserve people with measurable capacity and competence with professional, academical and experiential sagacity to mount up the throne of leadership. We deserve individuals that will painstakingly identify the wants and problem of the people and shrewdly contrive an effective mechanism to proffer the panacea. We deserve a better Nigeria.

There are some things we keep denying daily. We keep excusing ourselves from it because they are ideologies we perceived to be perverted. Yet,theses things keep confronting us as often as we live. They make us look inferior and second class in the world we claim our father own. Then, we must admit something is wrong somewhere and we should look inwardly to figure it out, else, we get drown in our own inactions.

I was rediculed for returning home a poor senator – Fmr, OAU. VC. Prof. Wande Abimbola

The Awise Agbaye and fmr. Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Wande Abimbola, said this in a chat with journalist, Olufemi Atoyebi. When asked to compare his time as a senator to what we have now, he said: .

"I was the Senate leader between November 1992 and November 1993 when the late Sanni Abacha ousted us. But the Senate I led was not paid. Only N5,000 was paid to each of us to visit our constituency once in a month.

We were all lodged and fed free at the Hilton Hotel. I have said it many times that we were not paid a dime. Our problems are the people and not the politicians. We vote them to go and steal and bring home the loot.

When Abacha drove us out, I came to my house in Oyo. That is my only house in Nigeria. I had no car, so I took a bus and arrived home at 2am. I actually had two Mercedes Benz cars that were at home for 15 years before I gave them out.

I was using taxis to go out. I went to Lagos twice in danfo (commercial bus) as a senator. On one occasion, I sat in the front seat. We entered Lagos at 5.30am. In the bus, people were talking about me.

They said that I went to Abuja and I returned a poor man taking taxis each time I went out. One of them said that people like me who could not steal should not be voted for. When the bus stopped, I looked back and greeted them.

I introduced myself to them and they were shocked. The people make the politicians thieves. I don’t cherish material things. My father built the house I live in in 1918 after he returned from the World War. I only built more houses in the compound to be comfortable. That is all I have."

Berger Paint Sacks All Its Staff

Paint manufacturing company, Berger Paints, today June 19th sacked all members of its staff. The mass sack comes after a 2-week strike action. The workers had embarked on strike over the new living wage policy of the company where none of them would be entitled to gratuity upon retirement and what was supposed to be gathered as their gratuity overtime, would now be added to their monthly salary.

The new policy was said to have been implemented in 2015 but most of the workers only got to know this year as they were meant to believe it was a salary increment.

They then decided to embark on a strike. After unfruitful consultations with the leaders of the workers union, the management wielded the big stick today by firing all of them and asked those still interested in keeping their jobs to reapply.
